  2. DayWatch Installation notes:
  3.  
  4. DayWatch was written in Visual Basic 3.0 and requires the following files:
  5.  
  6. Filename:            Must be located in:  (after setup)

  8. DW.EXE           User defined (Default = C:\DAYWATCH)
  9. DW.HLP           Same directory as DWxxx.EXE
  10. VBRUN300.DLL     Windows System Directory ( Usually C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM )
  11. THREED.VBX       Windows System Directory ( Must be dated 07/16/1993+ )
  12. CMDIALOG.VBX     Windows System Directory
  13. COMMDLG.DLL      Windows System Directory
  14. MMSYSTEM.DLL     Windows System Directory
  15.  
  16. The setup files included with this shareware version are:
  17. DW.EXE, DW.HLP, CMDIALOG.VBX, FILE_ID.DIZ, ORDER.FRM, ORDER.INF, THREED.VBX 
  18. SETUP.EXE and README.TXT. 
  19. A file named ORDER.INF may or may not be included.
  20.  
  21. The file VBRUN300.DLL can be downloaded from most on-line services and local 
  22. bulletin boards.
  23. COMMDLG.DLL and MMSYSTEM.DLL are already in your Windows\System directory if
  24. you're running Windows 3.1 or above.
  25.  
  26.  If you already have a visual basic 3.0 program on your system, chances are, 
  27. you already have these files (except the .EXE and .HLP files) and don't need 
  28. to download them.

  30. You may find that you have an older version of THREED.VBX located in your 
  31. C:\WINDOWS directory. This will cause buttons & controls in DayWatch to appear 
  32. strange. If this is the case, you can copy over the older version with the 
  33. newer version of THREED.VBX provided the old software already on your system 
  34. will run correctly with the newer version. Most older software will run just 
  35. fine with the updated version of THREED.VBX. Be sure to keep a backup copy of 
  36. the older version just in case.

  38. YOU MUST HAVE "VBRUN300.DLL" IN YOUR WINDOWS\SYSTEM DIRECTORY PRIOR TO RUNNING
  39. SETUP.EXE.
  40. To install:
  41. 1. Make note of what drive and directory these setup files are located in.
  42. 2. Run SETUP.EXE from Program Managers File/Run drop down menu.
  43. 3. Just follow instructions for directory location selections.

  45. Note:
  46. Under File/Properties in the Program Manager, be sure to set the WORKING 
  47. DIRECTORY the same as the directory that DayWatch is run from. This is so 
  48. DayWatch can find the help file DW.HLP. You can determine what directory 
  49. DayWatch looks for the help file in by clicking on Help-Information in the
  50. event list menu.The box labeled Working Directory is where the help file
  51. "DW.HLP" should be.

  81. Known Bugs:
  82.  
  83. The print screen functions (for the event list, calendar and picture viewer)
  84. will not work with some video drivers with more than 256 colors.If you want 
  85. to print the screen, you can temporarily change your video driver to 256
  86. colors from the Windows Setup icon in the Main group.
  87. Other print functions are OK.
  88.  
  89. When quickly swiching between event lists or scrolling through the quick list,
  90. you may get a system error message that reads:
  91.  
  92.           "An error has occured in your application
  93.   if you choose Ignore, you should save your work in a new file
  94.        If you choose Close, your application will terminate"
  95.

  98. If you get this message, you can click on IGNORE and DayWatch will continue 
  99. without problems. This error is due to a problem with Visual Basic itself
  100. and, hopefully, I will have a workaround for this in the near future.

  103. Addendum: Version 1.92 seems to have cleared this up. If this bug (or any 
  104.           other for that matter) shows up, please let me know as I sincerely
  105.           intend to support and continue to improve this program.
